Can you explain what is meant by "rod and claw"?

Both terms were coined by the late PGA Professional Paul Bertholy; below are his definitions as he wrote them in his book The Bertholy Method:

ROD: The fixed left arm with flat or slightly convex left wrist.

CLAW: The eccentric dynamic restrained position of the bent right arm and hand as it is moving just prior to impact that all the effective golf swings have.

And, just for fun:

KEYSTONE: A combination of the Rod and Claw. The Keystone, combined with the club, is what you swing.
