My misses with longer clubs are push draws. My misses with shorter clubs are pull fades. I have checked and experimented with ball position but cannot figure out why to no avail. My guess is posture. Could it be spine tilt both vertical and horizontal?

Very interesting...my first thought also would be ball position, i.e. too far back with long clubs and too far forward with short clubs. Your thought of spine tilt is a good direction to follow. I define "tilt" as the spine angle when looking Face On at the golfer and "posture" as the spine angle when looking Downline at the golfer. I suggest you first deal with spine "tilt" as a change here could be a source of your directional issue. The easiest way to test the effect of remaining in proper "tilt" on the forward swing would be to elevate your lead foot, say by placing it on a small range basket while you strike balls with both long and short clubs. The elevated lead foot will keep you "tilted" away from the target during the swing.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes...

Sorry it took so long to respond. I did not use a basket but really over did spine tilt in both directions and immediately saw drastic changes in ball flight. Tilting too far back, push slice. Too far foward, pull hook.
