With a strong grip is it necessary to rotate lead arm on the back swing as shown on the Horizontal Drill?

The stronger the lead hand hold, the less rotation is necessary during the backswing. A strong grip is basically a pre-rotated lead forearm, so less is necessary during the backswing. On the other side of impact, the same applies. A strong grip means less forearm rotation post impact. However, strong grips usually requires more body rotation prior to impact to accommodate minimized forearm rotation. In other words, a strong grip means you will have to "hold off" the release to prevent a hook, and that means more body rotation.
