I am confused by the seemingly contradictory multitude of ways I have come across to hit the driver in Natural Golf. Hands center, ball forward, face square at what position, clubface behind the hands, clubface opposite the zipper... It goes on and on. Please tell me, step by step, the best way to hit the driver using the latest Natural Golf methodology.

At the risk of sounding flippant, the best way to hit the ball using the N.G. method is to be thinking ONLY of your target... nothing else!
Ok, here's a primer on the driver set up. On any shot in N.G. the clubhead is always at body center or your zipper, assuming your pants are on straight.[:p][}:)] The ball position should be in line with your lead hip or lead armpit. The club's shaft should be in line with your lead arm which will have it pointing into your left armpit, the shaft should also be in single plane, pointing at the plane of your heart. Your stance should be at its widest with your driver, inside heels = to outside your hips or torso or wider yet if you like. Need to understand one point. Is the clubface square at address or open? With the clubhead at body center and the shaft pointing at lead arm pit the clubface is open. Is the face squared at address? And does this same rule apply to fairway woods?

A square clubface is recommended because starting square simplifies a square return at impact. Spine tilt toward your trail foot will help you accommodate a square clubface setup with both the fairway woods and driver. This aspect of the setup was made even simpler with the Perfect Aim Technology (PAT) we built into our new ST 460 Hammer Driver. PAT adds 3 degrees of forward shaft lean to this driver so the alignment of lead arm and clubshaft can be easily accomplished with a square clubface when the driver is soled across from body center. This is explained further in this video.

It appears that you are saying in one sentence that the clubhead, and therefore the ball at setup, should be at body center. Then, you say that the ball position should be in line with your lead hip or armpit - which in my case would place it about 12" in front of mid-line. Can you help me out here?

Ball position is forward of clubhead position. Ball position generally is across from lead hip, clubhead position is generally centered. Clubhead position and ball position are not the same with the driver.
